So, I’ve had a lot of inquiries lately about how Common Core Algebra II is coming along. This is understandable as our thoughts inherently turn towards the 2015 – 2016 school year. Isn’t that what we all do in the depths of January winter cold? O.k. Maybe it’s just me.
Anyhow, I wanted to give an update to folks.
I’m moving along on it at a good, but predictable, pace. I have an curricular/lesson outline and unit structure and many lessons done. I’m not ready to release any of that yet, but will in the coming month (or so). I’m still chewing on the toughest topics of the course (IMHO that is), which are probability and statistics. But, besides that, my thinking is pretty clear on the rest. It just takes time to write the lessons and the homework sets that are Common Core rigorous and yet help kids and teachers make this though transition. So, I beg patience from everyone as I work away.
Predictably, many of the lessons are similar to those from Algebra 2 with Trigonometry. So, I’m posting just a couple lessons here that are a little different. More will eventually come and we get closer to having all the lessons done. I am hopeful for an early spring finish on the lessons and homework sets. (Then I get to start on the laborious Answer Key – as my smart aleck son Max loves to point out).
