April brings much-needed spring energy to the classroom amidst the hustle and bustle of preparing for the end of the school year! As middle school teachers, we know how crucial it is to keep students engaged and motivated during these final months. That’s why we’re excited to offer fresh, updated resources to make your math lessons both fun and effective.
This month, we’ve got an Easter-themed worksheet on Probability, plus extra assessments and exit tickets designed to give your students the practice they need to finish strong. Check out our handpicked April Math tools to help you tackle those end-of-year challenges!
Middle School Teacher Tools
- Unit 10 – Practice with Modeling with Volume and Surface Area
This practice worksheet includes problems on volume and surface area, using a fish tank and toy boxes. The exercises involve calculating surface area, comparing volume and surface area, and word problems like calculating the costs for rectangular prisms.
- Unit 11 – Assessment C
This additional assessment focuses on Statistics. The questions cover topics such as identifying statistical questions, using a population or a sample, calculating median, mean, and range, and understanding symmetric and outlier data distributions. It also includes free-response questions requiring students to explain why a question is statistical, discuss the representativeness of a sample, and creating a frequency table and a histogram.
- Unit 11 – Practice with Populations and Samples
Questions in this practice worksheet help revise concepts with real-life problems about a librarian surveying students about the number of books they read per month, presenting the data in a histogram, and asking questions about interpreting that data. Students will be encouraged to answer why a librarian can’t survey the entire student population and why a specific sampling method might be biased.
- Unit 10 – Assessment C
This assessment includes multiple-choice questions about area, circumference, volume, and surface area of various shapes, as well as free-response questions requiring calculations and explanations.
- Unit 10 – Practice with Volume of Right Prisms
This practice set includes problems to help students revise triangular and rectangular prisms, composite figures, and real-world applications like tanks and yoga blocks, requiring volume calculations and unit conversions.
- Unit 10 – Assessment C
This assessment focuses on scientific notation through multiple-choice questions on equivalence and notation conversion. It also includes free-response questions requiring calculations with scientific notation and application to real-world scenarios like population, size comparison, and weight.
- Unit 10 – Practice with Multiplying by Integer Powers of 10
Get practice problems on converting powers of 10 to standard form, multiplying by positive and negative powers of 10, and expressing numbers in expanded decimal form using exponents. Also includes problems on rewriting scientific notation distances and thicknesses without exponents.Â
- Unit 11 – Assessment C
Assessment covers solving systems by identifying points, intersection, substitution, and elimination, with multiple-choice (2 points each) and free-response questions. Free-response questions require graphical solutions, creating/solving systems from word problems, and algebraic solutions.

April’s Bonus Activity: Easter Probability Worksheet
For this month’s themed fun, we bring an Easter-themed activity to let middle and high school students sharpen their probability skills by helping the Easter bunny plan a fair egg hunt for all!
Students will calculate probabilities, make predictions, and analyze real-world scenarios. This activity can be done individually or in small groups, encouraging students to think critically about probability and expectations. It’s a fun, interactive way to reinforce math concepts while adding a festive touch. Perfect for middle and high school classrooms, this hands-on activity makes probability engaging, relevant, and enjoyable! An answer key is included for easy grading and support.
Teachers, we hope these Math tools make your April lesson planning easier and more efficient. Our goal is to provide you with resources that will support both your teaching and your students’ learning.
