Take a look at our August Math tools to support a smooth transition into the year.

Middle School Teacher Tools

N-Gen Math 6:

  • Unit 1 – Mid Unit Quiz C
This mid-unit quiz assesses understanding of equivalent fractions, addition, subtraction, and application of fractions to real-world problems involving area and sharing. Important topics covered include operations with mixed numbers and converting between improper fractions and mixed numbers.
  • Unit 1 – Practice with Multiples of Whole Numbers
This worksheet is excellent for practicing Least Common Multiple (LCM) and applying multiples in real-world word problems. Use it to reinforce finding LCM for pairs of numbers and solving scenarios involving matching quantities of items. It’s a great resource for 6th-grade math students focusing on multiples of whole numbers.
  • Unit 2 – Mid Unit Quiz C
This unit quiz is ideal for assessing student understanding after Lesson on whole numbers. It covers important topics like multiplication, division with remainders, least common multiple, and area of composite figures. Use it to identify areas where students may need additional support.

N-Gen Math 7:

  • Unit 1 – Practice with Multiplication
This worksheet is perfectly suited to practice different multiplication concepts. It covers multiplication of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions, as well as word problems applying these concepts. Teachers, you can use it for practice or review.
  • Unit 1 – Mid-Unit Quiz C
This quiz focuses on arithmetic operations with decimals and fractions, including multiplication, division, and solving word problems. It also assesses understanding of the commutative and associative properties of addition and simplifying complex fractions.
  • Unit 2 – Practice with Rational Numbers
Use this worksheet as a bell ringer or warm-up at the start of class to review rational number concepts. It’s also suitable for in-class practice, allowing students to work individually or in groups. The worksheet is great as a formative assessment tool, with select problems used to quickly gauge student comprehension. Assigning it as homework provides valuable independent practice, and reviewing the solutions in class helps address misconceptions and solidify understanding.

N-Gen Math 8:

  • Unit 1 – Mid Unit Quiz C
This mid-unit quiz for N-GEN Math 8, Unit 1, focuses on “The Algebra of One Variable.” The quiz has both multiple-choice and free-response questions covering topics like integer operations, solving linear equations, simplifying expressions, and identifying types of algebraic expressions. Students are expected to show their work for the free-response questions to receive full credit.
  • Unit 1 – Practice with Modeling With Linear Equations
The document contains five practice problems designed to help students apply their understanding of linear equations to real-world scenarios. The problems cover various contexts, such as calculating the number of stickers collected by siblings, math problems solved by students, boxes of fruit sold by a farmer, and dimensions of a rectangle based on its perimeter. It helps students in setting up expressions and equations, solving for unknown variables, and interpreting the solutions in the context of the problems.
  • Unit 2- Mid Unit Quiz C
The quiz helps assess understanding of basic geometric concepts such as angles (vertical, complementary), lines, rays, and angle bisectors, along with the ability to apply algebraic methods to solve geometric problems. It consists of two sections: Multiple Choice Questions and Free Response Questions.

August’s Bonus Resource: Geometry Vocabulary Flashcard Set

This month, we’re offering a new set of Geometry vocabulary flashcards designed for middle school students. These cards help students review key terms and concepts like points, angles, transformations, and triangle theorems.

The set includes 86 ready-to-use flashcards, plus 11 blank cards you can customize with your own terms. They’re great for individual study, small group review, or even classroom displays. We recommend printing them double-sided on cardstock for best results.

These flashcards are a helpful tool for building vocabulary at the start of the year and can support both classwork and homework. If you’re teaching in New York, you’ll also find they align with the content on the Geometry Regents exam.
